Abstract: »This study uses repeated mixed-effects modeling to examine child sexual abuse county-level case processing in Pennsylvania over time. Three datasets are used to examine the reporting, substantiation, and processing of child sexual abuse cases: (a) data on contact and the reporting to police compiled by the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape from reports by all rape crisis centers in the state, (b) reporting and substantiation data from the Pennsylvania Office of Children, Youth, and Families, and (c) sentencing data from the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing regarding sex crimes against children. Results suggest that both county-level factors and time deferentially influence the stages of sexual assault case processing. Policy implications of these results are discussed.« (Source: Online Program)
